It’s Sunday and here’s what I’m wearing right now: pants I bought in school which I end up wearing every alternate day after every wash and a stained, oversized shirt of my brothers which is softer than cotton.I wear the same two pajamas every day and a set of worn out t-shirts that I rotate between.Piled up in my closet are cute t-shirts, preserved sitting unworn.
People don’t wear a considerable amount of clothes in their closets. An average person wears 20% of their clothing 80% of the time. It’s true and shocking!!
We go out shopping and buy something gorgeous (Remember the lights in the shop does wonders to our purses) , it sits in our closet with the price tag ready to get inaugurated until one day it finally goes out of style and sits in forever!
Let’s be honest, you probably have a pair of jeans (one size smaller) sitting in your closet but you hold on to it for that one day in the future when you’ll be able to fit into them.
Why? Why is it so hard to let go of some of your clothes?? According to me, these are the probable reasons:
- It’s never worn and you’ve already wasted money on it.
- Having clothes that are not practical to wear on an everyday basis.
- It’s one size smaller.
- Sentimental value.
- Laziness to dig into your wardrobe and pick a new outfit.
Well, there must be a way to tackle this issue! Having already spent and keeping clothes in your closet will not get the money back. It’s time to let go, DONATE or just wear it!! If it’s not something that you love, you are never going to wear it anyways. It’s just taking up space in your closet. Use it as a lesson for how to make better choices in the future.
The change might not happen all at once, but slowly and steadily, but who’s to say?
